Submission Critiques

If you really, really, REALLY want to land a traditional book deal or market your books, this offering is for you!

To get a deal, you’ll need to find a literary agent who can then pitch your book to publishers or submit directly to smaller presses and publishers.

We’ll review parts of your book and the accompanying submission pieces to ensure that you’re putting your best book forward. These services can also be helpful for authors planning to go the independent route, since submission packages include copy that can help you prepare to sell and promote your books. We offer submission package critiques as well as à la carte critiques of submission components. See below for details!

I'm ready to book a Submission Critique!

What You'll Get

  • Fiction Books: We’ll provide editorial notes and feedback for a query letter, a synopsis, and up to 3 sample chapters with a focus on what impression your package makes — and whether an agent or editor would read past your query letter or your first manuscript page.
  • Nonfiction Books: We’ll provide editorial notes and feedback on a query letter, a book proposal, and 3 sample chapters with a focus on what impression your package makes whether you are presenting yourself as the ideal author to write this book. Our goal is to ensure that an agent or editor will read past your query letter, the first page of your proposal, or the first page of your sample chapters.
  • A brief analysis of how your book would fit in the marketplace.
  • Recommendations on how to find ideal agents or publishers for your book.
